Manufacturer of electrical terminals, connectors, tools and accessories for the power distribution industry.
History
In 1906, an Australian named J J Hoelle started a business manufacturing small domestic appliances. These included small electrical cookers, electric water heaters for hairdressing salons and bedside table lamps.
These were sold under the brand name UTILUX, which was a combination of "Uti" (from Utility) and "Lux" (Latin for "light"). Over time, the product range evolved to include cable clips, conduit saddles and other electrical accessories.
In 1939, and under new management, the company took on the name of its most successful brand, UTILUX.
In 2001, UTILUX in Australia and New Zealand became part of the Tyco Electronics group, and this most successful of brands is now part of the impressive stable of quality brands that spans energy distribution, automotive, and consumer, communications and commercial/industrial electronics connectors and accessories.
